I would like to relate a personal experience which offers only a tip of the icerberg over the state of our health services and its impending crisis.
My daughter, who obtained 11 straight As in last year’s SPM examinations, was selected to attend a 3-day course by public service department (JPA) at the Kuala Lumpur General Hospital from March 22-24, 2010. She had applied for government scholarship to do medicine, but before the can approve her application, she has to undergo a course called “Pendedahan Kerjaya Seorang Doctor” (“A Doctor’s Career Exposure”) at various selected government hospitals throughout the country.
Coming home from the course, she told us that she did not want to become a doctor as according to her, almost all the doctors who were in-charge of guiding them throughout the 3-day course advised them not to be doctors because “you all study so hard for 5-years, and at the end of the day the

1. Doktor.
2. Guru.
Yang lain tu toksah nak poyo-poyo lah..
Pegi kerja, balik kerja..sampai pencen..thee he he
Hari2 melangut tengok jam..
