PUTRAJAYA - The US state secretary Hillary Clinton had called on Tuesday both Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak, who is recuperating from chicken pox, and the opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim, who she didn't meet in her three-day visit to Malaysia.
Bernama reported that Clinton had engaged in a telephone conversation with PM on Tuesday morning and wished him a speedy recovery from his illness so he could resume his work soonest possible.
"I wished the prime minister a speedy recovery. I am sorry if we are not able to meet in person but I did have a phone call with him earlier today, and hope that he is back in full swing soon," she told reporters at a joint press conference with Foreign Minister Anifah Aman.

Clinton: US Will Keep An Eye On Anwar Sodomy Case
PUTRAJAYA - While applauding Malaysia's brand of moderate Islam, US Secretary Hillary Clinton said Tuesday her administration will not interfere in Anwar Ibrahim's sodomy trial but the US will continue to keep tabs on the case.
"Officials from the US have been in regular contact with Anwar Ibrahim. We're watching his case closely," she was quoted as saying by DPA.
Clinton, who arrived in Kuala Lumpur Monday as part of her Asia tour, also hoped that Anwar's second sodomy trial will be conducted in a fair and transparent manner.
