OZIL WATCHED BY FERGIE AT FULHAM
Red Devils plot bid
OZIL: Manchester United target
By Greg Gobere, 07/08/2010
The Manchester United boss was in the stands at Craven Cottage yesterday as the Werder Bremen ace took on Fulham in a friendly.
Ozil, 21, has also been monitored by Arsenal and Barcelona since sparkling performances in South Africa - and the midfielder has just a year left on his contract.
The German midfielder made a 39th-minute appearance for the Bundesliga side in their pre-season tie against the Cottagers as they advertised their most prized asset.
Ozil does not want to commit to the Bundesligaclub unless they meet his extravagant wage demands and Bremen sporting director Klaus Allofs has conceded he is prepared to listen to offers.
Even though the £20m-rated star's value will be compromised by his current contract situation, Fergie has financial constraints of his own.
Fergie will decide whether to start a bidding war or wait and hope that he can lure £20million-rated Ozil for nothing next season.
But the Germans will battle to keep Ozil.
Coach Thomas Schaaf insists: "Nothing has changed since last week - Mesut is still our player."
United face Fulham on the second weekend of the new campaign and Ferguson will no doubt stress he was primarily running the rule over Mark Hughes' side.
